What is "hot chicken"? Back in the day, it started with woman seeking to punish her cheating man with some overly spicy, downright brutual fried chicken. She didn't factor that he would love it and make a business from it.
Prince’s
423 6th Avenue S., Nashville, TN 37203
This food truck is located in the Yee-Haw Brewing Co. complex with games, Old Smokey moonshine tastings, and of course, Yee-Haw beer. Prince's is also located in the new Assembly Food Hall on Broadway. Prince’s is the original hot chicken. The original location may not be around anymore, but the legend lives on. All other hot chicken is just an imitation of this juicy delicacy. But beware, it’s hot.
Bolton’s
Spicy Chicken and Fish
624 Main Street, Nashville, TN 37204 615-254-8015
Bolton’s
is in a small building that you’d pass before you see it. It’s got the heat,
but still has the flavor.
Party
Fowl
719 8th Avenue S., Nashville, TN 37203 615-624-8255
Brunch
at their original location is Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. The Bourbon
Glazed Beignets are to die for! If you want to try hot chicken, this place will
let you hit two birds with one stone: awesome brunch and one of the town’s best
places to find Nashville hot chicken. And, of course, they offer Mimosas and
Bloody Marys. BUT they also offer the ultimate Bloody Mary that they call
Brunch For Two for $50. It’s a 55 ounce Blood Mary topped with two whole fried
Cornish game hens, two whole scotch eggs, eight fried okra, and a whole
avocado!
The
Row
110 Lyle Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203 615-321-1224
The
Row is a good place to get hot chicken, bbq, or a burger, so if you have
friends with varying tastes, this might be a good stop for you. And their
brunch is available seven days a week 8am until 3pm. They have live music every
day starting at 6pm, and on Saturdays starting at 2pm. I hear they have a
pretty good Bloody Mary bar as well.
Scoreboard
2408 Music Valley Drive, Nashville, TN 37214 615-883-3866
The
Scoreboard is a sports bar with a little bit for everyone. They have live music
weekly. You can get a great hot chicken sandwich, burgers, wings, or bbq.
Woolworth’s
on 5th
221 5th Avenue N., Nashville, TN 37219 615-891-1361
In
the location of the original Woolworth’s, this restaurant is gorgeous and a
beautiful throwback to the 50’s and 60’s. You get a lot for your money. With
the hot chicken, you get two chicken breasts! I highly suggest the sundae. It’s
huge!
Oh, Christy!! I need to introduce you to at least 3 more places! Hurt's Hot Chicken, Slow Burn, and Red's 615. - franko
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I forgot Slow Burn. I tried to pick places that were closer to downtown for tourists that wasn't just a tourist trap.
